# publ MCP Reference

This Reference explains how to connect an AI assistant to your publ channel through MCP and what each tool does: its inputs, its results, how to recover an interrupted task and which console screen to open.

## How a change works

1. Read the screen first. The answer carries a `revision`.
2. Preview the change with `dryRun: true`. Nothing is sent.
3. Apply with the same `requestId` and the `revision` you read. A change the console treats as permanent asks you to confirm again; an action the console only allows on its own screen answers with that screen's link instead.
4. If an answer is pending, resume the task with `task_resume`; a sent request is never sent twice.
